REAL MEN DON’T EAT QUICHE…OR DO PILATES

Posted by Barry Evans in Chattanooga TN Real Estate

NOT!  Pilates for men?  Perish the thought or put your minds to ease and take a closer look at this venue for strengthening and de-stressing. Pilates conjures up men in tights, but quite the contraire.   It was originally created by Joseph Pilates as a men’s movement.  He was a German boxer who devised a workout using pulleys and strengthening the core in order to be able to take blows to the head. His effort at making this popular was disappointing to him.  However, it is believed that the value of this discipline is under-rated.   It can prevent injury while enjoying outdoor activities from golf to skiing and anything in between.  It is catching on here in Chattanooga. So, come to see for yourself.  Enjoy our outdoor recreational activities.  Golf, bicycle, skateboard, jog, rock wall climb or  play ball.   Enjoy the beautiful fall colors.   We have it all!   Gotta go.  My husband, Jean Pierre awaits his quiche.

First Time Buyer Credit Update

Posted by Barry Evans in Chattanooga TN Real Estate

NAR officials and lobbyists as well as various politicians continue to work on an extension of the $8,000 First Time Home Buyer Credit.  Lawrence Yan, the NAR’s chief economist has been quoted recently saying what a terrific success the credit has been so far.  Although stronger gains in the first time buyer segment of the market were felt earlier in the year, the feeling is strong that it continues to have a big impact.  This will help efforts to get an extension passed in Congress.

Red Bank Opens Senior Program

Posted by Barry Evans in Chattanooga TN Real Estate

Chattanooga and its close-by communities have been advocates of senior activities for quite some time.

The newest program to be offered to this fast growing segment of our population is one offered by Erlanger Health Care System. It is conveniently located at the Red Bank Community Center, and it’s off to a great start.

The twice a week activities include a free meal, exercise activities and medical screenings, sponsored by the Southeast Tennessee Area Agency on Aging and Disability, Erlanger North and Red Bank.

Marketing Your Tennessee Home: What to Expect during Your Open House

Posted by Barry Evans in Chattanooga TN Real Estate

If your TN home is for sale – whether in Chattanooga, Hixson, Ooltewah or surrounding areas – there’s a good chance your real estate agent will discuss the benefits of an open house with you. Open houses have long been a part of the home sale experience, since it allows prospective buyers to take a “low-key” approach while they browse the merchandise. It also gives your real estate agent the chance to network with a large number of potential buyers all at one time. In some cases, it also means you’ll finally sell that home!

Buy Low – Sell High? Just Buy

Posted by Barry Evans in Chattanooga TN Real Estate

I can’t believe there will ever be a better time to buy real estate in Chattanooga than now.  What makes me so sure?  Prices in Chattanooga, after adjusting for inflation, have never been better. We should have been insulated from the current correction for inflation since we only appreciate about 2.5 – 5% annually.  Where is the need for correction in that?  Where we did get caught is in the national recession that finally hit home and started forcing price adjustments in Chattanooga around the first of 2009.So, where’s the perk?  The prices are really low because of the recession.  But, they have also been further influenced by the large number of foreclosures in all price ranges.  There is also the benefit of incredible interest rates – today at 4.875.  Lastly, if you haven’t owned a home in at least 3 years or you are a first time home buyer, there is the federal governments’ buyer incentive.  Does it get any better than this?  I don’t think so.

CITY OPENS ROSS’S LANDING TO DOGS

Posted by Barry Evans in Chattanooga TN Real Estate

Hoping to prove that Chattanooga is getting a little more pet-friendly, city leaders are revising rules on where it’s okay for four-legged residents to walk.  Starting October 16, pet owners can walk their pooches at Ross’s Landing, downtown.

There are rules concerning vaccinations, licenses, leashes and picking up after the dogs. Pet owners had voiced their desire to take their furry friends out to public parks and the Department of Parks and Recreations worked with them to accomplish this test area.
