Hamilton County Schools Teach Water Safety
A new program has been started in the Hamilton County School system to teach first graders water safety.
The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and Choo Choo Dive and Aquatic Center have joined together to teach more than 3,400 hundred children in Hamilton County Schools.
The lessons will be ongoing between January and May.
This program is based on the American Red Cross water safety DVD, which is watched by the students before doing hands-on work. The class is taught by Deputy John Scruggs and Mrs. Cooke.
