CITY OPENS ROSS’S LANDING TO DOGS

Posted by Barry Evans in Chattanooga TN Real Estate

Hoping to prove that Chattanooga is getting a little more pet-friendly, city leaders are revising rules on where it’s okay for four-legged residents to walk.  Starting October 16, pet owners can walk their pooches at Ross’s Landing, downtown.

There are rules concerning vaccinations, licenses, leashes and picking up after the dogs. Pet owners had voiced their desire to take their furry friends out to public parks and the Department of Parks and Recreations worked with them to accomplish this test area.

Signs outlining the city’s codes and pet-waste cleanup stations have been installed along Riverfront Parkway from Market Street Bridge to Marine Max by the Chattanooga Green.  The Mc Kamey Animal Care and Adoption Center’s animal control officers will keep an eye out for, and enforce these codes.

The Do Good Group of Chattanooga, lobbied for these privileges and will be available to educate the public on doggie-owner etiquette in public. They will be at Ross’s Landing along with McKamey Center representatives for an opening ceremony at 10:00 AM.

Much excitement is expected for the dog owners and visitors who come to view the event.  Gourmet pet stores along Frazier are ready for increased traffic.  What a great way to socialize, both humans and canines!
